Enrollment & Registration
How to enroll in a Magnet School

Magnet schools are open to Springfield Public School students from across the city regardless of which neighborhood they live in.  Enrollment into Springfield’s Magnet schools is handled on a straight lottery basis, meaning there are no admissions requirements other than filling out a Magnet ballot, available during the enrollment period listed below.

Since spaces in our Magnet schools are limited, submitting your online ballot during the Magnet and High School Ballot and early registration period provides

the best chance of receiving a seat.

Back to school

Magnet Schools and Pre-K through grade 12 Balloting
runs from
December 1st through the second week in January each year.

S
tudents currently enrolled in Springfield Public Schools must sign up online during the Magnet balloting dates noted above. If your child is not yet enrolled in the Springfield Public Schools you will need to register at the Student Assignment Services (SAS) office, located in the Parent and Community Engagement Center (PACE) at 91 School Street (between Maple and Mulberry Streets, behind Milton Bradley School). Once your child is issued a Student ID number, you may enter your Magnet School selections online. During the early registration and Magnet and High School balloting period (December through the second week in January each year), extended hours and alternate registration sites are available for your convenience.

Since most of our Magnet seats are filled during the Magnet balloting period, it is important to sign up on time for the Magnet schools that interest you and/or your child.  After the balloting period is over Magnet seats are filled from the schools’ waiting lists so if you do not get a seat during the balloting period, make sure your student is on the list for your school of choice.
