Duggan is one of 4 city schools to receive funding through Springfield’s most recent Magnet grant. Responding to the interest expressed by parents and students to develop smaller middle and high schools, Duggan will grow from a 6-8 middle school to become a 6-12 Expeditionary Learning and Social Justice school. Beginning in the fall of 2014 and continuing for the next 2 years (2015 and 2016), Duggan will add a ninth grade class of 60 students who will be able to gain admission by applying during the Magnet Enrollment period each year. Beginning in the fall of 2017, admission into Duggan’s 6-12 program will be at the 6th grade level only.
Our expansion plans look like this:
School Year Grades
2014-15 6, 7, 8, 9
2015-16 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
2016-17 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
2017-18 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
The mission of the Springfield Public Schools is to provide the highest quality of education so that all of our students are empowered to realize their full potential and lead fulfilling lives as lifelong learners, responsible citizens and leaders in the 21st Century.
