Renaissance Graduates Inaugural Class of 6th Graders

June 5, 2013

IMG_2056The Springfield Renaissance School graduated its 4th group of seniors at Springfield Symphony Hall – a special cohort of students who took a chance on an unknown school with an unknown principal when the school opened it’s doors in the fall of 2007.

These students began their journey as incoming 6th graders, taking a chance on this new school that has, in its short existence, made a name for itself as a school of excellence in our diverse urban community.

For the 4th time in a row, 100% of the graduating seniors were accepted into college, earning over $3 million in scholarships.  As all of the speakers at graduation pointed out, these students beat the odds and proved that being successful in high school and beyond has nothing to do with your zip code, skin color or family income.  It has to do with motivated students who have the drive to push through despite obstacles, supportive teachers who stand by each and every student and a caring community, particularly family members who were out in full force for this important occasion.

This city has much to be proud of, especially these engaged young adults who we know will do us and our city proud.

Congratulations to all our graduates!
